Catherine Chestnutt from Bahama accepted to attend LENS@Wake Forest University

2013 Jul 11

Catherine Chestnutt from Bahama, NC, has been accepted to attend LENS@Wake, a pre-college sustainability program at Wake Forest University. High schools students who are accepted are given the opportunity to live on campus, study sustainability and apply this knowledge to the community by partnering with organizations throughout Winston-Salem, N.C.

Exceptional high school students from 15 states, and Puerto Rico, will spend three weeks studying “Sustainability Operate Locally and Extend Globally,” the academic theme for this summer’s program. LENS students will work in small groups to tackle sustainability-related needs requested by five, Winston-Salem community partners. At the end of the three weeks, the small student groups will present a final project to their specific community partner to assist them in addressing their recognized need.
