Mankappr Conteh a Bear resident wins Gordon Scholarship to Wake Forest University.

The four-year scholarship is one of the most selective in the nation. Each winner receives an annual stipend covering the costs of tuition, room, board and personal expenses plus grant opportunities for summer research, travel and international study.

Gordon Scholars are awarded to students who show exceptional promise and achievement and who are members of constituencies traditionally underrepresented at Wake Forest. The scholarship was established in 1986 in honor of Dr. Joseph G. Gordon by the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation.

The parents are Abdul Conteh (Sierra Leone) and Aminata Conteh. Conteh will graduate from Appoquinimink High School.
