Tyler Gaetano Participated on the Wake Forest Ethics Team that Qualified for National Competition

2011 Nov 18

Tyler Gaetano from Shelton, CT, participated on the Wake Forest Ethics Team. The team qualified for the National Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl following the 8th Annual Southeast Regional Ethics Bowl competition on November 12 in Clearwater, Florida. This was the very first competition for the newly created Wake Forest Ethics Team.

Wake Forest competed against 24 schools from the Southeast and finished second overall.

"Our team just recently formed and had limited time to prepare, but handled themselves like seasoned debaters and made a real impact in this competition. I could not be more proud of our students. They demonstrated exceptional command of the elements of ethics, philosophy and public policy as well as the skills needed to frame compelling and logically sound arguments," said Charles Lankau, Ethics Team Faculty Advisor and Professor of Practice at Wake Forest University Schools of Business.

The Wake Forest Ethics Team is now preparing for the North Carolina Ethics Bowl that will be held in February in Raleigh, and will compete in the National Ethics Bowl in Cincinnati, Ohio in March.

Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl teams receive a set of ethical issues cases in advance to prepare for the tournament. During the competition, a moderator poses questions taken from the set and teams of three to five students respond in front of a panel of judges.
